PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC REVIEW PERIOD FOR CAL FIRE NEW FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONE MAP NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the he California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), under the direction of the State Fire Marshall, is rolling out new fire hazard severity zones (FHSZ) within the Local Responsibility Areas (LRA) for the City of Oakdale. The hazard maps are being updated to more accurately reflect the zones in California that are susceptible to wildfire. The City of Oakdale does not control the creation of the map but is required to ensure the community has the opportunity to review the map and provide feedback. Public Review: A public review period will begin on March 26, 2025 and end on April 28, 2025. Any interested person or agency may comment on this matter by submitting comments via email to cityclerk@oakdaleca.gov or via postal mail or in person to the City of Oakdale City Clerks Office at 280 North Third Avenue, Oakdale, CA 95361. A copy of the Fire Hazard Map is on file at City Hall, 280 North Third Avenue, Oakdale, CA 95361. In addition, digital version of the Fire Hazard Map and information from CAL FIRE is available on the City's website at www.oakdalegov.com. The goal of the map is to provide information for land planning, building/fire code enforcement and wildfire mitigation strategies. Public comments can help identify concerns the public has, confirm that the data is correct and help improve the understanding of how these zones may impact residents, businesses and emergency response planning. CGC Section 51178 51179(a) mandates that local agencies "shall designate, by ordinance, moderate, high, and very high fire severity zones in their jurisdiction within 120 days" of receiving the recommendations from the State Fire Marshal per Section CGC 51178.
